Some years ago, my children and I wanted a pet.  Being a night shift worker, there are large chunks of time with no one in the house, and I wasn’t interesting in messes to clean up.  We decided on a python.  She’s a ball python, not exceptionally large, just a baby when we got her.  I would guess she’s quadrupled in size since then.  Her markings are distinct and beautiful in their way.  I enjoy the feel of her muscles when she curls around my hand and arm.  She is lithe and powerful, but content to curl up under a log in her terrarium and sleep for days.
